President Donald Trump is setting his sights on the South and the Midwest, with the first of several new hotels set to open in the region this week.
The president has announced plans for a hotel in Cincinnati that is billed as the first hotel to be built by his family in the U.S.
The project will be located on the campus of the University of Cincinnati, a university that Trump has said will become a “model for the nation.”
Trump is also slated to open a hotel at the White House in Washington, D.C. in 2019.
The hotel will be owned by the Trump Organization, which also owns several other properties.
The president’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, is also planning a hotel on the National Mall in 2021.
Trump has also said that the president will host an event at the National Museum of African American History and Culture in 2020 at which he will “celebrate the diversity of our nation,” which is likely a reference to his new hotel.
In addition, Trump has also announced plans to build a hotel and conference center at the former site of the UConn-Harvard campus in Somerville, Massachusetts, which is scheduled to open later this year.
The Trump Organization is also looking to expand its presence in the West Coast, with plans to open new hotels in California and Arizona.
Trump’s first foray into the construction of a hotel, however, will be his first in the Midwest.
The Trump International Hotel and Tower in New York City will be the first project in the city’s history to be completed, the Trump Hotel in Philadelphia will open in 2019, and the Trump National Doral Miami will open later in the year.
