Google is investing $10.7 million in new hotel units to open at the Tahoe-Tahoe resort in 2019, the company announced Tuesday.
Google said it had reached an agreement with the Tahoes, who are building a hotel at the site of the historic Lake Tahoes Dam.
The deal includes a 20,000-square-foot space on the ground floor and a 100,000 square-foot hotel on the second floor.
It also includes a 100-foot-long “belly wall” to prevent people from climbing onto the hotel’s balconies.
The new units will be built in three phases and open in 2019.
The project will also include a new hotel-casino at the resort.
The Tahoe resort is in the middle of a major rebuild, which began in 2013 and will take place over the next several years.
